Remuera Rackets Seek Club Manager


Remuera Rackets Club (RRC) is one of New Zealand’s premier racquets (tennis and squash) clubs catering for both serious and social players.  Established in 1907, RRC has developed a number of NZ’s top tennis and squash players to a professional level and has a membership of over 900.  Its facilities include 10 tennis courts, 6 glass-backed squash courts, gym, outdoor swimming pool, men’s and women’s saunas, Pilates studio, racquet sports professional coaches, Pro-Shop, osteopathy, sports massage, sports psychology and a lounge/bar. The Club is a not-for-profit organisation, with a Board representing the membership. 

The position of Club Manager has become available and will be filled by a person who combines managerial skills and experience with a welcoming and friendly manner.  The role is key to the creation and delivery of a positive, sociable and inclusive experience of the Club and its facilities by Club members and guests. 

The Club Manager is responsible for the promotion, presentation and day-to-day running of the Club. The role has as a priority the commitment to providing a positive experience for all Club members.  The Club Manager is assisted by a Bar Operator, Sports Coordinator and a grounds person. 

The role reports to the Board Chair and reports to and attends monthly Board meetings. 

The successful candidate will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Outstanding people and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Sports industry experience with a multi-sport delivery model
  • Drive, passion and a can-do attitude
  • Understanding of operational finances
  • Understanding of asset maintenance and facilities management
  • Ability to respond quickly and effectively to problems as they arise.
     

Essential skills

  • A self-starter combined with the ability to prioritise effectively to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Knowledge of and the ability to lead and ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations
  • Conversant with IT requirements for maintaining the Club technology systems including but not exclusive to website, social media platforms, booking system and Xero.
  • New Zealand citizen or Permanent Resident
     

Hours 

This is a full-time position – 40 hours a week with the usual statutory leave allowance.  Though there is flexibility in when the Club Manager is required on site, it is expected that the hours will be focussed around its customer-facing role.
